It remained in the family until 1851 when it was sold to a Colonel Fletcher, who then sold it to famous car manufacturer Jack Bean in 1924.

David Banks, senior partner at G.Herbert Banks, said: "We are very excited about bringing this property on the market.

"Lawnswood Estate is wonderfully situated for anyone working in the West Midlands.

"It occupies a unique position in an island of unspoilt countryside, with the 50 acre Ridgehill Wood giving it excellent protection to the north east.

"The house itself stands in an elevated position surrounded by mature specimen trees with uninterrupted views over its timbered Parkland and far reaching views to the West.

"It would be wrong not to point out, that things like the Bathrooms are old fashioned and that the property does need some modernisation.

"However, this handsome house, although impressive, is not unmanageable."

The house features four main reception rooms, kitted out with valuable fireplaces and ornate plasterwork.

The valuable main lodge acts as an entry with a winding driveway passing through the landscaped gardens.

There are mature trees such as cedars, beech, oak and others which adorn the large lawned areas, terraces, pathways and borders.

Little has changed since the house was built in the early 19th century, with the estate agents claiming some modernisation would be needed.

The home comes with four bathrooms, seven bedrooms and some attic bedrooms on the second floor, as well as plenty of garage space.
