The body of Jayden Clarke was found a day after he entered Shavers End Quarry at around 8.30pm on July 7.
Underwater search teams from West Mercia Police recovered the 18-year-old the following day.
An inquest was opened at Worcestershire Coroner's Court on Tuesday and adjourned until February 17 next year.
The cause of death was listed as a head injury at the coroner's office.
The circumstances around his death are not believed to be suspicious, police said.
A Just Giving page has since been set up in the wake of the teenager's death.
So far, more than £1,500 has been raised – more than the original £500 target.
Police officers, paramedics and firefighters were all sent to the scene of the A451 at Abberley, around four miles south of Stourport.
An area of woodland was sealed off as police continued to scour the area.
It was a functioning limestone quarry until 2002.
