The crocheted baskets contain quizzes, daily prayers and reflections to help keep them in touch with local churches.

Father Tim Williams, Team Rector for Kidderminster West with caters for churchgoers to St John', opposite Kidderminster Hospital, Holy Innocents at Foley Park and St Peter's at Birchen Coppice, said: "We sent out Advent Bags and they were so well received we decided to do this again for Lent.

"We have about 100 parishioners on our books and wanted to keep in touch.

"We hold zoom gatherings and live streaming and are actually picking up new people but cannot hold church services.

"The Lent Bags contain prayer leaflets, quizzes, gifts and some tasty treats and are aimed at keeping people in touch, stimulating them.

"We have already sent some bags out to children and will be sending others out next week.

"I hope people will enjoy the surprises and that they help keep them occupied during lockdown."
