Woman taken to hospital after crash closes busy Kidderminster road

A busy Wyre Forest road was closed after a crash between a car and van.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Stourport Road and Sutton Road, in Kidderminster, at around 5.40am this morning.

The smash involved a van and a car.

One woman, in her 50s, who was the driver of the car, was cut free from the vehicle and taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be serious.

The road was closed while emergency services were at the scene, but has since reopened.

No arrests have been made, a West Mercia Police spokesman confirmed.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 5:38am to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and van at the junction of Stourport Road and Sutton Road in Kidderminster. Two ambulances attended the scene.

"We treated one patient, a woman, who was the driver of the car, for injuries not believed to be serious and she was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further treatment.”

A spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) said: "Two HWFRS crews from Wyre Forest were called at 06.08am on Thursday to a road traffic collision in Stourport Road, in Kidderminster, involving a car and a van.

"One trapped person was released from the car using cutting gear. The 54-year-old female was left in the care of paramedics.

"Police also attended and the road was closed. The incident ended at 07.21am."

A West Mercia Police spokesman added: "At around 5.45am officers were called to a collision at the junction with Stourport Road and Sutton Road in Kidderminster.

"The collision involved two cars and as a result of their location and damage the road was closed and the driver of one car treated for injuries.

"That driver has been taken to hospital, no arrests were made, the vehicles have been recovered and the road has since reopened."
