Liam Duffy, aged 11, and Danny Duffy, aged 8, have raised more than £800 for their Scouts and Cubs group in Kidderminster.

Since lockdown, the boys, who live in Stourport-on-Severn, have been taking part in a number of online sessions, such as discos, treasure hunts and online calls led by their group leaders.

As lockdown is set to continue for a number of weeks, the leaders asked families who could to make a donation to help keep the group going and pay for running costs such as the Scout Hut.

Liam and Danny, who attend St Catherine's Primary School in Kidderminster, decided to embark on a 24-hour sponsored silence to raise funds for their group.

Mum Amy Jones, said: "I'm really proud of them both, for them to be doing something positive despite what is going on.

"Their original target was for £750, but we have already gone above that and now they want to raise as much as they can.

"The boys hope that they might inspire other scouts to do similar fundraising activities for their own group.

"The leaders have been so dedicated and devoted during lockdown, this is our way of saying thank you to them for all of their hard work."

The boys will take part in the challenge on Saturday June 13 until Sunday June 14.
