It was far from a normal day on the front line for two Wolverhampton police officers as they found themselves chasing a turkey around Whitmore Reans.

Pc's Chandler and Seymour, from the St Peters, Park and Graiseley Neighbourhood policing team in Wolverhampton, were called to reports of the turkey running around Newhampton Road West on Saturday afternoon.

After some chasing the two officers managed to grab the turkey, named Bernadette, and take her back to their police car.

After posing for a smiley photograph, featuring Bernadette all strapped in for safety, the pair drove her to a local animal sanctuary where she is now 'enjoying her new home', according to the police.

It is unknown where the turkey came from.
