High Street closed after car crashes into Tettenhall shop

Tettenhall's High Street was closed today after a car crashed into a shop.

The car crashed into the front of a shop in Tettenhall High Street

The High Street was cordoned off by police at around 12.30pm after the crash.

Photos from the scene show a red car embedded in the front of a store, near Lloyds Bank.

A man in his 90s, the driver of the car, was taken to hospital for further checks. He is believed to have suffered a head injury in the crash.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called by the police at 12.19pm on Wednesday to High Street, in Tettenhall, Wolverhampton. An ambulance and paramedic officer attended and arrived to find a car which had collided with the front of a shop.

"The driver, a man was assessed on scene before being conveyed to New Cross Hospital for further checks."

A West Midlands Police spokesman added: "We were called to reports of car hitting a shop in High Street, Tettenhall at just after 12.15pm on Wednesday, December 2.

"The driver, a man in his 90s, suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital. His condition is not believed to be serious.

"We attended to assist with traffic while the vehicle was recovered."
