Travellers moved on from Wolverhampton gym grounds

Travellers who set up camp on the grounds of a Wolverhampton fitness centre have been moved on.

More than a dozen caravans arrived at Chris Jewkes Fitness Centre, in Tettenhall, on Monday.

Now officers from West Midlands Police have confirmed the illegal encampment, on Danescourt Road, has been removed.

It comes after a notice was issued by the force to leave the premises – or face eviction from the site.

Officers visited the scene and helped reassure businesses and residents the issue was being tackled.

A spokesman for Tettenhall Police said: "The illegal encampment on Danescourt Road and has now been removed."
