So far, the 25-year-old has raised a total of £4,700 – with further donations expected.

The decision was made due to Harriet's three aunts suffering from the disease.

She said: ""I literally can't believe that so many little bits of money here and there can add up to that much."

"I had kind-of thought about it in the past and thought I would tell everybody about it on a whim.

"I figured it's a charity close to everyone's hearts – unfortunately my family has dealt with it a few times.

"My hair was long at the time and I figured it would make an impact.

"I wasn't bothered when she did it.

"The whole situation was the most overwhelming thing because so many people came.

"I couldn't look at first, but once I calmed down I felt a lot better about it."

The idea to shave off her hair came during a skiing trip with friends.

"I randomly said it and thought I would like to do it.

"The more I thought about it and said it I felt I couldn't wait to do it."

Harriet's hair was shaved off at Codsall and Wergs Garden Centre, Wergs Hall Road, where she is a part of the family-run business.

She said: "We're a family-run business and I'm the manager of the restaurant.

"Our whole work team are very close – it's like a family.

"Just seeing everyone's faces, like the biggest smiles surrounding me – it was the best day of my life."

Harriet's hair will now be donated to The Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for girls who have lost their hair through cancer and other conditions.

"What's the point in just throwing it away?," the 25-year-old said.

"But it's a bit of a weird feeling having a bag of hair in the house," she admitted.
