Gary Shaw, who went by the stage name Cisco in his heyday, will be joined behind the decks by 19-year-old Jordan.

Gary spun Motown and Northern Soul records at venues across the Black Country, as well as in Denmark and Spain, during the 1970s and 80s.

However, he retired from DJing in 1987 and has not played a show since.

In recent years roofing contractor Mr Shaw, 61, has encouraged Jordan to hone his own skills behind the decks.

Now he is coming out of retirement, and the duo will perform together at the Mount Hotel in Tettenhall next month.

Gary said: "Hopefully we can draw a lot of the people from that era and get a good crowd down there.

"DJing is really good for improving your confidence and brings you on a treat.

"It's all changed though – I've managed to get all my old records put onto MP3 and now we can play the show using two laptops.

"Jordan can fit all his kit into his car. But I used to have to have a van to carry all my stuff.

"It's a totally different ball game – everything has changed.

"But I'm really looking forward to it, hopefully we can get a full house."

Gary performed at venues including the Rollerdome in Wolverhampton, the Club Lafayette, the Queen Mary Ballroom at Dudley Zoo and Montessa in Wednesbury back in the day.

He spent 12 years working as a DJ before rejoining the family roofing business.

Gary, who lives in Tettenhall, said: "I had a tremendous time – I was working seven nights a week.

"You would do a pub, then a nightclub straight after and then another venue straight after that and could be on until 7am.

"It was a full-time job once I had made my name.

"But by 1987 I came back to work for my father because I didn't think I could be a DJ for the rest of my life."

The show at the Mount Hotel, described as a 'Motown and Northern Soul extravaganza', takes place on Friday, October 13 from 8pm to 1am.

Tickets are only available on the door, for £5.
