The crash happened at 8am on Tuesday at the junction of Manor Road, near the Roebuck Pub, in Upper Penn.

The rider, a man aged 37, is believed to have hit a tree during the crash.

He was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious spinal injuries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said he had suffered a chest injury and abrasions to his arm and leg

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their investigation.

Sgt Alan Wood, from West Midlands Police, said: “There would have been a number of people using Penn Road heading towards Wolverhampton at that time in the morning and I would ask that anyone who has not yet contacted us to do so.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, or to email FL_COLLISION_INVEST@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk. Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
