Mob turn on driver and attack car during Bilston brawl

A "mob" smashed a car windscreen and threatened the driver with an electric shock device during a brawl in Wolverhampton.

The attack happened when the man came across people arguing on a residential road in Bilston on Monday afternoon.

The 41-year-old was driving down Boswell Road when he stopped to break up the fight and was set upon by some of the people involved, West Midlands Police said.

His windscreen was smashed and he was threatened with the shock device but was not seriously hurt.

A 51-year-old man from the local area has since been arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a firearm and officers are working to identify the other people involved.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "On Tuesday morning, officers conducted an arrest attempt in Boswell Road where a 51-year-old man was detained.

"He's being held in police custody on suspicion of assault and possession of a firearm.

"An investigation remains on-going to identify all those responsible for the attack."
