The land in Taylor Road/Spring Road, Ettingshall, was previously part of the Rolls Royce estate and will be developed in two phases – a single purpose industrial unit and a further series of light units, both with yards and parking.

Made by Cradley Hill-based KMN Investments Ltd, the application relates to a previously approved plan which will result in increasing the total number of units on the site from 15 to 17. Two of the units will be subdivided and made available for lease.

A statement from agents Pinnegar Hayward Design, issued alongside the plans, said: “The site is currently a derelict parcel of land and will be redeveloped into 15 light industrial units and a manufacturing facility for the Drywall Steel Sections company. This will include stabilisation works to a number of mineshafts that have been identified on the site.

“Redevelopment of the site will provide high quality spaces for businesses and create job opportunities in the area, as well as making improvements to the derelict site. Drywall Steel Sections is a family-run manufacturing business spanning two generations. It manufactures and supplies steel products to the construction industry, providing materials to sites nationwide.

“Established more than 20 years ago, the business currently employs 24 full-time staff members. Once the firm moves, it will enable them to increase their overall workforce to 45 over the next 10 years.”

The company manufactures pre-fabricated products for residential and commercial properties across the UK, and is keen to establish the region as a centre of excellence for this, with a view to building a relationship with the University of Wolverhampton to help train students.
