Ambulances and police were at the stop by Morrison's supermarket on Blaydon road at about 5pm.

The area around a stationary bus was reportedly taped off by police.

There has been no confirmation by emergency service but it is thought there may have been a collision between a bus and a pedestrian.

Comments on social media urged people to keep away from the area because of the traffic build up.

AA roadwatch showed slow traffic on Blaydon Road.
