Councillor Beverley Momenabadi opened up the park which was built on land off Ward Street and Coningsby Drive in Ettingshall.

The play area is currently opened but the grassed area will remain fenced off for a few weeks to allow the grass to properly grow.

Councillor Momenabadi, who represents Ettingshall, said: "As someone who lives on the estate, I know how important this park is to people in Ettingshall and that's why I championed the project from start to end. Residents were thrilled to finally see it open today. It boasts an accessible play area, a multi-sports cage and lots of wildlife. This will be an asset for so many residents in the area and we are all just so pleased."

Persimmon Homes last year completed the construction of Ettingshall Place – a 460-home estate housing an estimated 2,200 people, with the remainder of the land set aside for community green space.

Resident Edna Jardim added: "I can't wait to spend the summer days in the park with my children. Picnics, football and playing on the swings is what is on the cards for us!"
