Wolverhampton school to reopen a day later after positive case of coronavirus
A secondary school will reopen a day later following half term after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.
Smestow School, in Castlecroft, Wolverhampton, will reopen to students on the Tuesday, November 3, instead of the originally intended Monday, November 2, following a positive case of Covid-19.
This week the school has closed to pupils for the October half term holiday.
A spokesman for the Windmill Crescent-based school said: "Following a confirmed covid case and the required self-isolating procedures for key members of staff in the academy, we are unable to reopen safely on November 2.
"The self-isolation of these staff ends on Tuesday, November 3 when we intend to reopen.
"I understand that this will cause frustration for you but I must put the health and safety of our community first. I hope that you understand and support my decision."
