Acorns Children's Hospice and Compton Care were each given £500 to spend on items of their choice at the Dulux store on Bilston Road, Wolverhampton.

Store manager Rod Vaughan said: "We are celebrating 125 years of business this year and as a company we've had a community project to donate to 125 needy cases in the community whether it be a charity or a food bank or that sort of thing.

"Each store could nominate different charities, I chose Acorns and Compton Care and we donated paint to them so they can use it for decorating the bedrooms and things.

"They had free range to pick what they wanted within a certain amount and they chose goods to the value.

"It will make a difference as it's tough times for them with their charity shops being closed over the summer.

"I'm local so I wanted to give back to local charities. We've all got to pull together at the moment.

"The charities were extremely grateful as it's tough for them at the best of times."
