Man taken to hospital after car crash near Molineux in Wolverhampton

A man was taken to hospital after a car crash near Molineux stadium in Wolverhampton today.

Emergency services were called to reports a car had crashed into a barrier on Waterloo Road just after 10.20am.

The driver was discovered to have had a suspected medical episode before the crash. He was taken to New Cross Hospital.

No other vehicles were involved.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of car that had crashed into a barrier on Waterloo Road at 10.22am.

"One ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who crews were told had suffered a suspected medical episode prior to the collision. Following treatment at the scene, he was taken to New Cross Hospital for further assessment."

West Midlands Police also attended to re-direct traffic as the road was closed for a short time while the area was made safe. West Midlands Fire Service was also at the scene to assist.
