Compton Care, based in Wolverhampton, has launched Fit4Compton in a bid to attract those who have exercised over lockdown.

It comes after charities across the country were hit badly by coronavirus, with shops closed and fundraisers cancelled.

The event, which runs throughout September, asks people to come up with activities based around the number four – due to it being included in the challenge name.

Events fundraiser Dawn Smith said: "We are so excited to announce the launch our brand-new virtual challenge Fit4Compton which runs throughout September.

"We decided to launch this fundraiser to reach out to people within our local community who have found their fitness mojo during lockdown.

Covid-19 coverage:

"We hope it will also give people the motivation to get out now that restrictions are lifting, whilst continuing to observe the new social distancing guidelines, to reach a clear goal in an achievable time.

"Maybe you could run four miles per week? Or play four hours of football non-stop? What about organising a tennis doubles match and ask for £4 donations from friends and family?

"The possibilities really are endless, and all money raised will go towards ensuring we can continue to provide extraordinary care for our patients and their families both now and in the future.

"While 2020 has seen the cancellation of all our events, we are really hoping the community will virtually come together to get behind us and take part in #Fit4Compton this September."

People can practice yoga for 40 minutes each week, swimming for 14 hours throughout September or possible walk 10,000 four times a week for four days.
