This motto has taken on new meaning for Wolverhampton hit by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

With Wolves restarting their Premier League campaign today, the club has teamed up with Wolverhampton Council for 'Project Relight'.

They have launched a short film, with the help of the Express & Star, to recognise how the people of Wolverhampton have played their part in helping fight back against the virus.

WATCH the Project Relight film:

It features Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, singer Beverley Knight and council leader Ian Brookfield along with NHS staff and key workers.

Project Relight also features the unveiling of a new mural for the city by Wolverhampton artist Steve ‘Graffoflarge’ Edwards in Old Hall Street on the site of the City Learning Quarter.

The film was released on the eve of Wolves’ return to Premier League action away at West Ham United.

Wolves head coach Nuno said: “The last three months we have had to keep our distance physically, but it has actually been a time for togetherness and unity.

“The way the staff, supporters and players at Wolves have responded in these difficult moments has been mirrored by everyone across the city; especially our NHS staff and keyworkers who are truly inspiring, genuine heroes, and should be very proud.

“The battle is not yet over - but often it is the toughest challenge that brings us closer together.”
