The five brownfield sites, all located within the Ashmore Park estate, will be used to build a mixture of two-bedroomed houses, one bedroomed apartments and a two-bedroomed bungalow.

Each of the sites formerly housed garages that provided parking and storage for nearby homes.

They are located at Townson Road, which will be used to build a pair of two-bedroomed homes; Simmons Road, which will house a one-bedroomed bungalow; Woodside B, which will provide space for four one-bedroomed apartments; Wolmer Road B, which will accommodate two new two-bedroomed houses, and Southall Road B, which will do the same.

Councillor Phil Bateman said: “Homes are required – no-one would argue with that statement, and in line with the city of Wolverhampton’s campaign to build new homes, I can tell people that here in Wednesfield North we are embarking on another 11 new build council homes.

“Site surveys have been carried out and the Wolverhampton Homes team will shortly be submitting planning applications for each site. There will be other sites across the city.

“Wolverhampton Homes will be sending letters to all the residents surrounding each site to advise them of the planning application prior to the standard planning consultation period.

“Wolverhampton Homes will then appoint the contractor who will advise on the delivery of the programme.

“If all goes to plan the likely start to this programme will be during the summer of 2020, subject to the council’s cabinet approvals,” he added.
