Parts of the kitchen and store rooms of Good All Chinese in Bushbury were closed after Environmental Health officers found rats there last week.

A notice posted on the front of the takeaway, next door to Pizza Presto on the corner of Bushbury Lane and Elston Hall Lane, said there was evidence of rats in the raw food preparation room, the raw meat and rice preparation room and the dry good store.

The takeaway was shut last Wednesday but will be allowed to reopen once the risk to public health has been removed.

A spokesman for Wolverhampton Council said: "The food preparation areas and store rooms at Good All Chinese, based on Bushbury Lane, were formally closed by environmental health officers on January 15.

"A hygiene emergency prohibition notice was served on the owners of the premises following the discovery of an active rodent infestation.

"Environmental Health officers will continue to work with the business until the imminent risk to public health has been removed once officers are satisfied that there is no longer an imminent risk to public health, the premises will be allowed to fully reopen."

An answer machine on the takeaway phone line states: ""Due to unforeseen circumstances the restaurant will be closed until further notice, sorry for any inconvenience caused."

A woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "I was told it had been rat infested and I think that's disgusting.

"I told my friends and one of them was shocked – like 'oh my God, I ate from there'.

"I don't know whether they just didn't care, but it's just disgusting – my son had a meal from there not too long ago.

"I think people should know about this."
