A man, in his 40s, died after being hit by a car in Parkfield Road on Thursday morning.

A woman, in her 50s, was left critically injured and a West Midlands Police spokesman confirmed today that she remains in hospital in a serious, but stable condition.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, but has been release under investigation.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw the collision and particularly anybody with dashcam footage.

Bystanders performed CPR on the man before ambulance crews arrived but he could not be saved.

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: "The driver was released under investigation to allow collision investigators time to assess CCTV and speak to more witnesses.

"The woman involved remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital."

Anyone with information about the crash can call West Midlands Police on 101.
