Franchise owner of Martin & Co, in Waterloo Road, Wolverhampton, Nick Sanghera, was inspired to start his own homeless campaign after hearing about other collections across the country.

Staff from the company met with Good Shepherd, St George's House and Solace Community to work out what items they were most in need of.

The hampers have been tailored to the charities' specific needs.

Rhianna Aspinall, office manager, said: "The charities were incredibly grateful that we called beforehand to ask what kind of items they would use and would like us to donate.

"St George's House were in need of breakfast items for their breakfast clubs they put on for the homeless, so we put together a selection of cereal, tea and coffee for them."

In total they have spent £200 on food, toiletries and other essential items.

Ms Aspinall added: "For most people, Christmas is a very happy time of year, but for the homeless it can be very difficult.

"We know that donating these hampers is just a small act of kindness, but it can make a big difference and bring some festive cheer to the homeless and that's what warms our hearts.

"We also hope that we can inspire more people to give back to their community, whether that's through donating money, items, food or volunteering.

"As a company we know we are in a fortunate position, so we want to continue this charity work in the years to come."

The boxes and packaging for the hampers have been donated by Black Country businesses, Burke Bros Moving Group and Woolcott removals.

The company were giving the hampers on Friday, which coincided with National Christmas Jumper Day, keeping with the festive theme.
