Pat McFadden MP joins campaigners in Bilston, who want to keep the free TV licence

Wolverhampton South East MP Pat McFadden took his campaign to Coseley residents on Friday.

This is the second campaign in two weeks, the previous one was in Bilston.

Both campaigns have seen hundreds of local people sign up to campaign against the decision from the Government to withdraw the TV licence.

Free TV licences for all over-75s were brought in by the Labour Government as a welfare benefit.

Mr McFadden said: “The announcement that it will be restricted to those on pension credit is expected to hit 3,400 households in Wolverhampton South East.

"Collectively that means local pensioners will be paying over £500,000 more a year just to watch TV.

"The Tories are breaking a manifesto promise to maintain free TV licences for the over 75s.

"We’ve had a huge amount of support on our street stalls with people queuing up to express their opposition to these plans.”
