The event featured a picnic, with people asked to bring along food to share, games and painting.

An event to bring the community together for a day around the date of her death has been held annually by the Jo Cox Foundation.

Eleanor Smith, MP for Wolverhampton South West, said: "Jo Cox was an inspiring MP. In her first speech to Parliament she said 'we are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us''.

"Sadly, she was murdered on June 16, 2016, while working in her constituency helping the public.

"But now she has become more powerful than any of the hate filled people who try and divide us could imagine.
