The two day hearing at the city's Crown Court is expected to start on July 1 and will be heard by High Court Judge Mrs Justice Carr.

Part of a rotten building panel torn lose during Storm Doris fatally injured Tahnie Martin when it hit her outside Starbucks in Dudley Street on February 23, 2017.

Cushman and Wakefield Debenham Tie Leung Ltd has pleaded guilty to its failure to properly maintain the Blacklock Building from which the deadly piece of wood fell.

The company conceded it failed to ensure people were not exposed to risks to their health and safety.

Mr Bernard Thorogood, representing Wolverhampton City Council, whose Environmental Health Department brought the case, explained at an earlier hearing of the case: "This is a case of great factual complexity and a very substantial fine is the likely sentence. Significant numbers of members of the public were at risk of death.

"This article could have collided with any number of people and the case has implications for those who maintain public buildings throughout the UK. It has lessons for all of them to learn."
