Tettenhall Rotary Club in Wolverhampton has extended its thanks to the people of the city after receiving donations totalling £11,760.

The sleigh visited visited Claregate, Low Hill, Old Fallings, Fordhouses, The Scotlands and Bushbury in the run up to Christmas, with Santa handing out hundreds of chocolate bars to young children.

It was also stationed at ASDA, Sainsburys St Marks, Morrisons in Pendeford and the Codsall Coop, where more than £8,000 was collected.

The club also took their sleigh to the lights 'switching on' events in the city centre, Tettenhall, Bantock Park and Bilbrook, as well as several schools, Wolves Dribblers and Young Wolves.

Rotarian Roger Timbrell said: "The real magic this year was the Christmas spirit, generosity and warmth of welcome of the people in the communities we visited."

Organiser Chris Bowyer said: "On behalf of Tettenhall Rotary Club I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated."

Donations will be distributed to Compton Care, Acorns, the Midlands Air Ambulance and other worthy causes.

The club has run its Christmas sleigh for 16 years, donating tens of thousands of pounds as a result.
