Joy for new parents as babies arrive on Christmas Day

The perfect gift arrived for four Black Country families when mothers gave birth on Christmas Day

Hitesh Singh and Francesca Lucinda Stewart were delivered to their mothers at Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital.

Little Hitesh was born at 3.50am and he weighed 6lb 8oz.

His proud parents are Barbara Katona, aged 23, and Parmjeet Singh, 34.

The couple have been together for a year and were overjoyed at the birth of their son.

Parmjeet said: "This is the best Christmas present that we could have ever wished for. Hitesh is our first child together."

Meanwhile first-time mother Shantelle Stewart gave birth to her daughter Francesca at 12.52am, weighing 5lb 11oz.

Her proud mother Shantelle, 26 and from Wolverhampton, said: "I knew I was having a baby girl."

Two babies were delivered at Walsall Manor Hospital.

Abida Sheikh gave birth to a 7lb 10oz baby girl at 2.50am and was still deciding on a name mid-way through the morning.

Abida is now a mother of eight and said her family were taking care of everything at home.

First-time mother Hayley Freeman, a supervisor, gave birth to her son Leo who arrived at 8.47am, weighing 6lb and 8oz.

At her side was father Adrian Lawson, a chef.

Walsall NHS Trust's fundraising manager Georgie Westley handed out celebratory gifts from the Well Wishers charity to both families.
