Families' anger at Wolverhampton Air Space closure

Furious customers who have passes and parties booked at Wolverhampton’s hugely-popular Air Space trampoline park have hit out at bosses after it closed without warning.

The Express & Star revealed on Monday that bosses said they had been left with ‘no choice’ but to close as the business, which had been in administration for the last few months, had become ‘increasingly unsustainable’.

But parents and customers have been left angered after paying for passes running into next year and booking children’s birthday parties.

Owners have been accused of misleading customers by continuing to sell passes despite the company being in administration.

Oxygen Freejumping, which runs Air Space, has promised to refund all future bookings.

However, a host of customers have left comments on Facebook.

Vicki Evans said: “This was a choice to close, not a forced liquidation. The rest of the group is still operational.

"Surely it would have been kinder to staff and all those kids with parties booked to stay open to the end of the year, that way the staff could have been given notice and kids still happy for birthday and Christmas parties going ahead.”

Natalie Lewis said: “They didn’t stop me from buying gift vouchers the other day – they must have known it was happening.”

Manda Moses said: “There’s two people I know of that have booked and paid in full for birthday parties. They should not have been taking bookings, they knew the place was in trouble.”

Ellen Saeed added: “This is very stupid!! They were giving out discount vouchers the weekend in town. Also raising money for a charity.

“To shut it is ridiculous. Every time we have been they had good custom and had a lot of birthday parties.”

A statement on Air Space’s Facebook page said: “We regret to inform consumers that we have been forced to close our Wolverhampton site.

“The site had been operating while in administration for several months, however unfortunately our trading has become increasingly unsustainable and we have no choice but to close.

“We will refund all future bookings and customers will shortly be contacted by our customer service team.”

Air Space, based at Bentley Bridge Retail Park, opened in 2015 and has proved hugely popular with families across the area.

The £1.5 million park, set over two floors, boasted over 100 interconnected trampolines.
