Cyclist dies after crash with lorry in Wolverhampton

A cyclist has died after a crash involving a lorry in Wolverhampton.

The crash happened at the junction of Hickman Avenue and Cullwick Street, outside East Park

The collision happened next to East Park, at the junction of Hickman Avenue and Cullwick Street, just before 2.25pm on Monday.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, ambulance staff found a cyclist who had suffered very serious injuries.

"Despite immediate assessment, sadly, there was nothing that could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The man driving the lorry was assessed by ambulance staff but was discharged on scene.”

An ambulance was on scene in three minutes and was backed up by a second ambulance and a paramedic officer.

West Midlands Police spokesman Craig Hughes said: "Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a cyclist and lorry in Cullwick Street, Wolverhampton, at just before 2.30pm today.

"The male cyclist suffered serious injuries and was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.
