Wolverhampton Christmas lights switch on: These city centre roads are closed today

A raft of 11-hour road closures will be brought in as the city’s festive lights are switched on tonight.

Visitors and bus passengers are reminded a number of streets will be shut from 8am until 7pm for the city centre event.

The entire stretch of Exchange Street, Lich Gates, Dudley Street, Woolpack Street and King Street will be closed.

Darlington Street will be closed from its junction with Red Lion Street to North Street, while Queen Street will shut between Dudley Street and Market Street.

Princess Street will also be shut between Queen Street and King Street.

Families are expected to gather in Queen Square when pantomime stars Debbie McGee and Richard Cadell with Sooty help turn the lights on at 5pm.

They will be joined by the Mayor of Wolverhampton, Councillor Phil Page, and Father Christmas.
