Pensioner cut free as two men injured in Wolverhampton crash

A pensioner had to be cut out of his car after a smash on a busy Black Country road today.

The Mercedes car was involved in a crash with a van in Dudley Road, Wolverhampton.

Photos taken at the scene showed major damage to the front end of both vehicles after the smash happened in between Rainbow Street and Mason Street.

The driver, a man in his 70s, was complaining of pain in his back, shoulder and hand and was taken to New Cross Hospital.

The van driver, a man in his 30s, suffered a minor head injury and was taken to the same hospital.

The Midland Air Ambulance landed nearby but both men were taken to hospital by land ambulance.

The crash happened at around 11,45am and left the main road near the city centre blocked, causing delays in the area.
