Mike Williams, who runs Fred Williams Cycles in Snow Hill, could only watch as the offender sped off on the Giant Contend on Saturday afternoon.

The bike was taken as Mr Williams was dealing with other customers.

He reported it to the police.

Mr Williams said: “I was showing a customer that bike and they left their bike for repair, when I took their bike through to the back, that’s when this guy came in and he ran out with it.

“We chased after him, Jon (Mr Williams’ son) nearly got close, he got to within three or four feet of him but he was riding and he sped away.”

The bike is dark grey and green and was priced at £1,199, it was taken at 2.20pm.
