Wolverhampton South East Mp Mr McFadden, said: “Tomorrow, I will be at the funeral of the serving Mayor of the City of Wolverhampton, Councillor Elias Mattu to say farewell to a very special man.

"Elias Mattu was a very special person and his death is a huge loss for Wolverhampton.

"I've never seen someone work so hard for the public that he served, he went to so many events, his door was always open to everyone and he did it all with such a gentle and generous spirit.

"And the whole city is in mourning and he will always be remembered as a great son of Wolverhampton and we will all hugely miss him. We've lost someone very special.”

Prior to the service, a minute's silence will be held in St Peter's Square at 10.30am.
