Snow Hill car park closed with work on £4.9m market to begin
Snow Hill car park has been closed with the site's transformation into the city's new market set to get underway today (WED).
Access to the 160-space car park has been blocked and fences have been put in place around the perimeter of the site.
Contractors will begin 'preparatory' work there today with the market's move to be completed in spring.
Once completed it will feature 20 cabins and 48 stalls with modern features including free WiFi and canopy-covered walkways.
Traders at the existing market in Market Square have secured stalls at the new site while others will be occupied by new traders which the council said will include a bakery.
