Ofsted has heaped praise on Rosedale Church of England Infant School on Stroud Avenue in Short Heath after it found it was rated 'good' following a recent inspection.

The school was rated good in 2013 and an inspection back in March this year confirmed the school continues to be good.

A report prepared by Ofsted following the visit two months ago states: "The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection. Under your strong leadership and that of the head of school, there is an ambitious vision, team spirit and a relentless drive for continual improvement.

"There is a strong culture of professional learning among staff, both within the school and to support colleagues across the Short Heath Federation. Staff are proud to work at Rosedale.

"The vast majority of parents hold the school in high regard. They appreciate the strong ‘family orientated’ atmosphere that has been created. This is fundamental to the core values that underpin the work of the school through its strong Christian ethos and values.

"Leaders have made good progress towards ensuring that pupils are able to transfer their skills in literacy and mathematics to other subjects. However, leaders have rightly identified that there is more to be done to ensure that pupils always work to the same high standards across all of their subjects."

Vicki Stephen, the head of school at Rosedale, said: "At Rosedale, we are delighted with our recent and extremely positive Ofsted report, which confirms what our staff, children and parents already know; Rosedale is a great school with a huge heart. The welfare and wellbeing of our children is always at the heart of everything that we do and our dedicated team of staff, children and parents in all Federation schools work tirelessly together as a family would, to achieve the very best outcomes.

"As stated in our report, the drive for improvement at Rosedale is relentless and we will now continue to focus our energy and enthusiasm on the areas that we have already addressed as next steps in our journey. With such amazing 'team spirit' and 'strong values that underpin our work', we know that Rosedale and Short Heath Federation will continue to go from strength to strength over the coming years."
