Cause of blaze at former Brownhills pub yet to be determined

The cause of a blaze to a former pub is yet to be determined following hours of investigation work.

Firefighters tackle the flames at the former Rising Sun.

The old Rising Sun in Brownhills became engulfed in flames causing plumes of black smoke to rise from the roof around 3.30pm on Wednesday.

West Midlands Fire Service confirmed the former boozer on Chester Road North, which has not been open since 2008, was left 50 per cent damaged.

Firefighters were back on the scene this morning but they have not been able confirm whether the blaze was deliberate or not.

While West Midlands Police are not treating the incident as arson at this stage. A spokeswoman said: "It has not been crimed as arson yet, more fire examination and forensic work was being completed this morning."
