Elderly driver escapes injury after crashing car into Aldridge estate agents

An elderly woman escaped without serious injuries after smashing her car into a shop window.

Paramedics and firefighters were called to Paul Carr estate agents on High Street in Aldridge just before 10am this morning.(WEDS)

The woman, believed to be in her early 70s, crashed into the front of the shop, smashing the front window and damaging the fascias.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed that one ambulance and one paramedic officer was sent to the scene and that the woman was discharged at the scene without injury.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman added: "We were called at 9.49am to High Street in Aldridge.

"Police called us to say that a car had been involved in a collision with a building.

"Two fire engines and 10 fire fighters were sent.

"The female driver, believed to be in her early 70s, was assessed by paramedics but did not require further treatment.

"Our firefighters removed the car and made the scene safe.

"No serious structural damage was done to the building."
