Wednesbury Road closed as man stabbed on busy Walsall street

A man has been taken to hospital after being stabbed on a busy Walsall street.

Emergency services were called to Wednesbury Road, Pleck, shortly before 12pm today.

The victim, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital with injuries "not thought to be life-threatening" and a second man was arrested.

Wednesbury Road has been closed at the junction of Oxford Street next to Pleck Pharmacy while police investigate, with two bus services being diverted as a result.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Police are currently at the scene of a stabbing on Wednesbury Road in Pleck, Walsall, at 12pm today.

"A man in his 30s has been taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

"A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and will be taken to custody to be questioned.

"Wednesbury Road, at the junction of Oxford Street is currently closed while enquiries continue."

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service added: "We were called at 11:58am to reports of a stabbing on Wednesbury Road in Walsall.

"We sent an ambulance and paramedic officer to the scene. Upon arrival, we found one patient, a man.

"He was treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening before being taken on blue lights to hospital for further treatment.”
