Mr Neal, from Walsall, was driving his white Renault Clio when it was involved in a collision with a HGV in a layby near Lichfield.

The crash took place between Muckley Corner and Wall Island at around 2am on Saturday.

Staffordshire Police said that specialist officers are supporting Mr Neal's family and have asked that their privacy is respected.

Police are continuing their investigations and are asking for anyone who witnessed the crash, or has any dashcam footage from the area, to contact them.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "Officers from Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances around the collision and are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

"Anyone who may have dash-cam footage or witnesses that may have seen the white Renault Clio prior to the collision is asked to contact us."

The busy road was closed in both directions in the early hours of Saturday while police investigated the collision.

It comes less than two months after 25-year-old Ethan Williams, from Cheslyn Hay, died after a collision involving a van and a car on the same stretch of road.

Any witnesses are asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident reference number 55 of January 4.

Alternatively, they can email ciu@staffordshire.pnn.police.uk or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
