Pete Dimbleby, race director, said: "Saturday was around our 410th parkrun at Walsall Arboretum, so we have been going for a good few years now. We are allowed one special extra event every year so on Christmas Day this year we had around 739 people turn up to take part in the 5k.

"On Saturday, we had around 450 runners – everyone is running off their Christmas dinners!

"We usually have round 300 to 400 people take part every week, and the numbers have grown and grown since we started. Runners can take from 15 minutes to complete the event, to over an hour.

"It is open to anyone and we try to encourage people to get outside and exercise."

Walsall Arboretum's parkrun takes place every Saturday at 9am.
