More than £2,000 raised at Willenhall school colour run

Staff and students at a Black Country school raised thousands of pounds for charity through a very colourful event.

They finished in all shades of the rainbow after pupils and teachers at Fibbersley Park Academy raised more than £2,000 at the school's first Colour Run.

After smashing their original target of £500, a mammoth effort from all involved at the school on Noose Lane in Willenhall, meant that Teenage Cancer Trust received £2,002.87 - a figure that is still rising.

Fundraisers sold wristbands and pins, and filled in sponsorship forms to raise the money, with one child going the extra mile and collecting more than £100 at a bake sale at her church.

Children threw themselves into the event and got covered in an array of colours, while the school radio station also did its fist live broadcast.

A spokesman for Teenage Cancer Trust, who attended the event, said: “It was a brilliant afternoon, and an absolute pleasure working with Fibbersley Park.

"The children and staff were all so welcoming, I drove home smiling, it was the most fun I’ve had for ages."

The event was organised by teachers Nicola Day, Liam Hancock and Bill Dawer, who are now aiming to make it an annual event.
