Walsall Council has approved plans for the former Andrew Page Automotive Premises in Long Acre Street to be used as additional storage and teaching space, to be used in conjunction with their existing Green Lane Campus opposite.

In a report in the application it says: "The site is in a street of mainly industrial units of varying ages about half a mile north of the centre of Walsall.

"It is immediately opposite the Green Lane Campus of Walsall College which was developed from a former DIY premises around 15 years ago.

"Access to the site is directly off the street where there is a small hardstanding in front of the building itself.

"The unit in question has become vacant and would be put to good use by the college if the proposed new use is agreed.

"No alterations to the structure or appearance are proposed other than minor internal alterations and there will be no requirement for additional parking with the building being used strictly in conjunction with the larger site opposite where adequate parking and other facilities currently exist.

"As with the existing campus opposite, it is envisaged that students will generally arrive and leave by public transport."
