And one antiques shop in Walsall is offering aviation enthusiast a chance to own a piece of the aircraft.

The legendary war planes, known as Tonka's by aviation enthusiasts, whizzed over the National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield, the Defence Electronics and Components Agency in Stafford, RAF Cosford and RAF Shawbury near Shrewsbury on Tuesday.

Enthusiasts turned out to watch the Tornados before their retirement after 40 years in operation.

And now The Dog House Antiques in Bloxwich Road has pieces of former Tornados which were brought out of service.

Two air ducts are on sale for £295 each.

Drew Rutter, manager at the shop, said: "We've had other bits of Tornados in the past, they've been really popular.

"It's just unusual, you don't see bits of an aircraft very often.

"They were parts that either were damaged or couldn't be repaired so they came from an air base.

"We've also had the cockpit glass and drop tanks which are like big missiles that go on the wings and various nose cones and bits and pieces.

"It can be anyone who is interested that might buy it, usually men with a man cave or someone who wants an interesting ornament.

"We just wanted something different, we do stuff across the board but this is really different."
