Walsall Council will make a decision on the plans

Walsall Council's officers have recommended that plans for the four storey building in Bradford Street, Walsall, are granted when they are considered by the planning committee on Thursday.

The block would contain a mixture of one and two-bedroom flats, which the applicant says would be situated in a ‘prime location’ near Walsall train station and the Saddlers shopping centre.

A design statement submitted with the plans by Eric Cole Architecture described the build as a ‘landmark development’ for Walsall.

Last month the committee deferred the application for more information to be provided about waste collections and car parking and additional information was then provided.

A report to go to the committee concludes: "The application has demonstrated sufficiently that the proposed redevelopment of this site for residential purposes will be welcomed and the proposed design, scale, appearance of the building takes account of its historic context and surroundings, will add to the character and amenity of a conservation area, respects the height of neighbouring buildings through its careful design and will not have any additional impact on nearby businesses which currently operate in the area."
