Appeal to trace knifeman after women threatened in Walsall robberies

Police have launched an appeal after two women were threatened by a knifeman in two separate attacks in the Black Country.

The two women were approached in the Pleck area of Walsall by an unknown man and threatened with a knife – before their purses and handbags were stolen.

Officers have increased their patrols in the area following the terrifying incidents.

The first attack took place between 11am and 11.25am on January 11, in Truda Street.

The victim was approached by the man and threatened with a knife. She was not injured but left clearly shaken by the attack and her bag was stolen.

While the second attack took place in Wednesbury Road at around 2.10pm on January 14. The female victim was approached by two men who demanded her purse and threatened her with a knife.

One of the men took her purse from her pocket and ran off.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "No-one has been arrested yet and police enquires are on-going.

"Local officers have increased patrols in the area as we understand how being a victim of robbery is a frightening experience and we understand that even if you’re not physically hurt if can be extremely distressing to be threatened with violence."
