The crew was called to a home in Brace Street, Caldmore, at about 10.40pm yesterday.

Firefighters have said they will revisit the area over the next few days to give fire safety advice to residents.

The occupier had left the property before the fire crew got there and no injuries were reported.

Walsall Fire Station tweeted saying: "Here we can see the aftermath of a chip pan left unattended. Never tackle a fire, get out, stay out and call 999.

"Crews will revisit local area to give #firesafety advice to residents over the next few days. Fire starts when attention stops #watchwhatyouheat."
