Police investigation after motorcyclist dies following Walsall crash

A motorcyclist has died after a crash in Walsall this afternoon.

Police attended the crash in Thorncroft Way, on the Yewtree estate, earlier today.

An off-duty firefighter was performing CPR on the victim when ambulance staff arrived.

Police cordoned off the road and the Midlands Air Ambulance landed on fields nearby.

The victim, a man aged 21, was found in cardiac arrest. He was confirmed dead at the scene.

An investigation is now under way into the circumstances of the crash.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said the road is likely to remain closed for a number of hours.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find the man in cardiac arrest.

"An off-duty firefighter was already at the scene performing excellent CPR.

“Ambulance staff took over and also administered advanced life support.

“However, unfortunately it became apparent that nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
