Who planned that?! Telegraph pole blunder blocks new-build's driveway

Neighbours have branded a building-blunder home as 'something out of Fawlty Towers' – after it was built with a telegraph pole right in front of the driveway.

A telegraph pole is blocking the driveway of a new home in Lichfield Road, Walsall

Access to the property's large drive and garage is almost impossible because of the giant pole.

Any parking job is made even worse as the kerb in front of the house has not been dropped.

The fancy five-bedroom property is currently on the market for £370,000 in Lichfield Road, Walsall.

But the new owners will have huge trouble parking outside their house.

The homes were built earlier in the year

The property is one of three identical homes that neighbours say were completed at the beginning of the year.

But locals have labelled the homes 'ridiculous' as they were built at the same level despite descending a hill, meaning the driveways get steeper and steeper.

A neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: "It's just hysterical. It's like something out of Fawlty Towers.

"It's not very well thought out at all.

"They were building them for a few years and it was a complete farce.

"The front drives were originally meant to be gardens so that's why the dropped kerbs and telegraph poles are still there.

"They've made them exactly the same height but they should have made them go down the road."

One neighbour said: "To me this is ridiculous. Whoever planned that?!

"It's going downhill so they should have staggered it, but they're all on the same level. It means the drives are incredibly steep.

"If there is a little bit of ice in winter there's no way you'll get a car up there.

"We're not happy about it."

"I think they finished them just after Christmas. They have been on the market for a long time and none have sold.

"We have only seen the odd one or two visits."

At the time of press no comment was provided by the estate agents.
